    Our Foundation Story

    Late. Mr. Nanubhai Khushalbhai Patel
    (April 28th, 1942 – March 15th, 2025)

    • How It All Began

Twenty years ago, in 2004, Nanubhai Khushalbhai Patel made a decision that would echo through generations. After building a successful life in America, he chose to return home to the small village of Pardi, India. While others might retire to comfort, Nanubhai saw something different - an opportunity to give back to the place that shaped him.

    • Two Decades of Quiet Dedication

For twenty years, Nanubhai became the guardian angel of our village's century-old school. Day after day, year after year, he organized fundraisers, rallied the community, and poured his heart into keeping this beacon of hope alive. He helped expand classrooms, improve facilities, and ensure that generations of children could chase their dreams just as he once did.

    • When Progress Brought Heartbreak

In 2023, after nearly two decades of loving care, progress came knocking in an unexpected way. The government announced plans to widen the village road - necessary for development, but devastating for the school. Suddenly, the place where children played and learned was no longer safe. The busy road would run right past their classrooms. After twenty years of nurturing this school, Nanubhai watched his life's work face an impossible challenge.

    • But sometimes, when hearts are pure, miracles happen. The Sitanjali Foundation in the USA, moved by the children's plight, stepped forward. "We'll sponsor a new school," they promised. Hope bloomed again - until reality hit. Where could they build? Land in the village was precious, and finding the right spot seemed impossible.

    • The Gift That Speaks Louder Than Words

During a quiet evening conversation, Nanubhai shared his twenty-year burden with Nalin Nagarbhai Patel, a fellow villager. Nalin listened, understanding the weight of worry in his uncle’s voice - worry built over two decades of dedication. Then, without fanfare or ceremony, Nalin said something that would echo through generations: "We have land behind the school. It's yours." Along with his uncle (Rambhai Ukabhai) and cousin (Bipin Bhaghabhai), Nalin simply gave what was needed. No contracts, no conditions - just pure generosity meeting twenty years of selfless service.

    • From Two Decades of Love to a Movement

That moment transformed twenty years of individual dedication into something much larger. Today, our foundation carries forward not just Nanubhai's two-decade dream, but the spirit of that extraordinary gift. We support education, yes, but also clean water, community spaces, and the invisible threads that connect hearts across continents.

    • A Legacy Twenty Years in the Making

Today, over 200 children learn safely in classrooms built on donated land, funded by generosity of Sitanjali Foundation and Foreign residents of Pardi, and sustained by twenty years of village love. Every day, they carry forward the dreams of a man who chose home over comfort, service over retirement, and community over self. And somewhere in this beautiful cycle of giving, we're reminded that true wealth isn't measured in what we accumulate, but in what we choose to nurture over time.

    Honoring Nanukaka’s Legacy

Giving the gift of education is among the most noble and enduring acts of service. Nanukaka understood this deeply, and through his vision, a school was built that continues to shape young minds. His passing this year reminds us of the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind — one that will live on through every student who walks these halls. Today, we honor not only his life, but the future he made possible for generations to come.

"We believe real progress results from consistent care and support within our community, not grand gestures."

    Message from Jayesh/Nita Patel family

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nanubhai Khushalbhai Patel on March 18, 2025, at the age of 83 in Pardi, India. He is survived by his wife, Savitaben Patel, his children Prakash (Amita) Patel and Nita (Jayesh) Patel, three grandchildren Manisha (Bhumil) Patel, Chandani (Sachin) Patel, and Roshan (Krishna) Patel, as well as two great-grandchildren, Laksh and Aashiv.

Nanubhai lived a full and content life, rich with family, friends, travel, and community. Though he and his family spent many years in California, his heart remained in his home village (ghaam). After retiring, he returned to India with Savitaben, where he spent his remaining years.

Respected by all who knew him, Nanubhai devoted himself to giving back to his community. His lifelong dream was to bring education to the children of the ghaam — a vision realized with the establishment of Pardi Prathmik Shala in June 2026.

Nanubhai’s legacy endures in the gift of education he made possible. He will be deeply missed, but his life’s work will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come.
